Arizona 2010 Budget
On September 4th, the Governor announced a series of actions related to the budget package presented last week.
  • HB 2006: Budget: General Appropriations; FY 2009-10 - Line item vetoed (Note: eliminating cuts to K-12 and to DES)
  • HB 2008: Budget Reconciliation; General Govt; FY 09-10 - signed
  • HB 2009: Budget Reconciliation; Assets (State Properties) - signed
  • HB 2010: Budget Reconciliation; Criminal Justice; FY 09-10 - signed
  • HB 2011: Budget Reconciliation; K-12; FY 09-10 - line item vetoed
  • HB 2012: Budget Reconciliation; Higher Education - signed
  • HB 2013: Budget Reconciliation; Health and Welfare; FY 09-10 - signed
  • SB1025: budget Reconciliation; General Revenues - vetoed

Federal Bills

S.1555 - National Alzheimer's Project Act
The bill was introduced on 7/31/2009 by Senator Mel Martinez (FL). The five Cosponsors: Senator Evan Bayh (IN), Senator Susan M. Collins (ME), Senator Jon Tester (MT), Senator Michael F. Bennet (CO), and Senator Russell D. Feingold (WI).

S.155 is intended to establish the Office of the National Alzheimer's Project.  For more information, go to the Thomas web site and enter the bill number under Search Bill Summary & Status.

Bring your cellphone and charger.  We'll be signing up Democrats for Permanent Early Voting.  The data proves people who vote by mail are more likely to vote, and we have fewer PEVL voters than the other side.  We need to catch up!

Jason Barraza - Brook Hallow Precinct

Recently recruited as an attorney with Veridus LLC, Jason Barraza, provides exerience as a political operative who will further advance the firm's political and lobbying operation.  Jason says, "I am fortunate to have found a spot in the business I love, politics - My hope is to strengthen and reinforce a bi-partisan perspective of the team, and be a resource to clients. I am excited and honored to be given this opportunity with such an influential firm."

Jason BarrazaJason has an extensive background in campaigns, election law, legal research and field organization. Jason entered the political world at the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles assisting in the
logistical and operations planning of the convention. Upon returning to Arizona, Jason was involved with congressional and statewide campaigns, focused primarily on campaign finance and public affairs.

Jason remains a part of the state and national democratic machine, providing logistical support for both the 2004 and 2008  Democratic National Conventions. He served as Deputy Director of Security for Access Control at the Denver convention.  In 2006 and 2008, Barraza was the Election Protection Director for the Arizona Democratic Party working in the field of election law. He has worked for the Center for Progressive Leadership, a nonpartisan political leadership training institute and is on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library.
A native Phoenician, Mr. Barraza holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and dual minors in History and Biological Technology from the University of Southern California. Jason Barraza also holds a Juris Doctor
from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law.

Jason serves the Brook Hallow precinct in District 6 as a precinct committeeman, and also represents the District in the State Committee.
