Write the Governor - Action ALERT
Protect Arizona's Families
How? With 15 Minutes and 44 cents
That's all it takes to strike a blow for the most vulnerable in this state - our kids, the elderly who depend on AHCCCS for their long term care and medicine, the mentally ill, the unemployed, the uninsured, the homeless and the hungry.
Put a pen to paper and write Governor Brewer. The folks who work in her Constituent Services Department take lots of phone calls and receive many, many emails everyday. They count them and send the numbers to the Governor's Office. But a handwritten letter from a constituent gets a bit more attention and makes a bigger impression.
PAFCO (Protecting Arizona's Family Coalition) has excellent ideas for your letters on their
website.
The address for the Governor is as follows:
Constituent Services
Office of Governor Jan Brewer
1700 West Washington-101A
Phoenix, Arizona 85007
If each of us takes this small action every week, we can make a difference in how our tax dollars are used and how our fellow Arizonans are treated. Ask your friends, neighbors, children, grandchildren, and fellow congregants to do the same.

Council on Aging - Legislative Update
2010 Budget Proposal Pends
On Monday, Governor Brewer released her 2010 budget proposal. The plan has been widely viewed as a better scenario for human services and vulnerable populations than legislative alternatives. The proposal addresses the increased caseloads state agencies have faced during this economic downturn. The 5-point Long Term Recovery Plan includes those ideas presented to the Legislature in March of this year.
Documents outlining details of the proposal can be found
here.
In response, the Senate and the House have been working to reach agreement on proposed budget bills. Both reconvened this afternoon (6/4/2009). Senate budget bills include S1027; S1028; S1029; S1031; S1035; S1036; S1145; S1187; S1188; and S1258. The House package includes: H2633, H2634, H2635, H2636, H2637, H2638, H2639, H2640, H2641, H2642.
Note: The Council's FULL LIST includes all of the Senate and House budget bills
here. Live proceedings can be viewed through the Arizona State Legislature
website or through Arizona Capitol Television available through Cox Cable Channel 123.
For additional details, go to the
JLBC summary of the House and Senate budget plan.
